04.10.2020-Genoa in the rain is still beautiful

Dear friends,

And yet it's raining.

Because our day in Milan started with beautiful sunshine and two four-leaf clovers, I am firmly convinced that today will be beautiful. And even though it was, the Lord in heaven had to go to the bathroom.

During our drive today, the first time on the real highway, we only got honked at once, a pretty good pace, I would say. The disappointing part was that our side of the road wound along the mountain side, while the opposite direction could drive on a bridge, such show-offs. But after we had eventually made it and could see the sea for the first time, it was all worth it. Damned turquoise blue water, like in the Caribbean. Genoa was our destination for today. After successfully finding a parking space and a enriching, quite complicated encounter with a local, we made our way into the city center, always along the harbor side, passing by large cruise ships and million-dollar yachts. The view of the still sunlit city was like a photo and evoked an indescribable feeling of happiness in me, which I held back a bit for the sake of my environment. Our first real walk in the city was immediately rewarded with small alleyways and churches whose steeples didn't even protrude above the rooftops. The city seemed to have an endless supply of emerging sports fields, cute churches, and old magnificent buildings. When we then ventured into the touristy areas, we were immediately rewarded with a huge fountain and a map of the city, which we actually photographed this time, small spoiler on the side: we didn't use it, Dad could actually remember almost everything.

Because the city made such a good first impression on me, it had to rain heavily along the coast, despite my firm conviction. Of course, we couldn't just let our forced break go by and so we indulged in our favorite activity: eating - it was waffles, very delicious. When it didn't stop, we reluctantly continued on our way and ended up in a church that was beautiful on the outside, but stunning on the inside: Basilica dell'Annunziata. And now we come to the first lesson of the day: no matter how long and beautiful the small alleyways are, they can simply end in front of a house wall and then we have climbed up an incredible number of steps for nothing. And when I say not just a few, but really many, way too many. But luckily, Dad saved me and I followed him panting, like a rhinoceros, along the right path, of course not without swearing.

When we finally arrived at the castle, which I really wanted to climb up to, it can simply be said: it was worth it. The view was magnificent and the small garden simply adorable, I believe I was a castle owner in a previous life. After that, we walked back to our apartment and it can be said: people are only truly rich when they can afford not to develop their land in such a densely populated city.

But our car still had to find its place to stay for the night, so we wove our way out of the city towards Santa Margherita. It's raining just as heavily here, but the houses and streets are smaller and there is pasta.

See you soon and you also experience a new adventure every day.
