Our first purchase was also on the agenda:
WOW! Huge supermarkets, nothing like Germany and everything in huge quantities. In short: the first shopping trip is a complete sensory overload!
There we were standing in front of the milk shelf and were completely overwhelmed as to which milk we wanted to buy... high in fat, low in fat, with vitamin A or D or both? Or would you prefer milk with more calcium? How are you supposed to decide?? And then the smallest carton of milk is half a gallon. That's 1.9 liters. Who drinks that much milk? @Dennis: You still can't buy quark here. Americans don't even know what it is. That really is a gap in the market. Our sign for a new startup? Maybe "The Quark company"? Feel free to write us your name suggestions in the comments :D
Then it continues: We want muesli, but which one? The main problem here is that almost all muesli contains huge amounts of sugar. You have to look at everything very carefully if you don't want to consume sugar with every meal.
Also, have you ever seen a huge pickle jar like this (see pictures)?? Really crazy here... Well, about 2 hours later we had at least stocked up on the basic foodstuffs so that we would have something to eat for the next few days.
Oh yes, we almost forgot: we also went shopping for clothes in a huge shopping mall. It really is a highlight! We love the shops here. So much choice and lots of great offers. You really have to hold back so you don't buy everything right at the beginning!
There is currently a 10-day festival here in Pittsburgh. The so-called "Three Rivers Art Festival". Different bands play here every day and there are many different stands with art exhibitions. A great festival to end the evening at.
