New Orleans and Georgetown

Ku kandziyisiwile: 07.02.2018

The weeks in January were as normal as in 2017. I was really looking forward to traveling to New Orleans. Time is still not easy for me. I feel like most AuPairs just live their lives without realizing that time flows. I, on the other hand, kind of just wait until it's time for me to go back. People would say: Why don't you quit the program? There are a couple reasons for that. First, I don't hate being here, I like to have more free time than during my studies and I like to do something different. Second, I haven't seen everything I wanted to see during this year. Third, I don't have anything to do in Germany right now. And lastly, I don't get the certificate, which is less important but still a reason. But I'm conflicted and I kind of feel bad because I don't enjoy this year as other people do and I don't really think about extending. I wish I could enjoy everyday life a little more.
On Friday, when I went to New Orleans, I had to get up at 3 to get to the airport on time. I was happy to not fly alone. Once we got to New Orleans, we explored the French Quarter and got some Beignets from the Café du Monde.

But what makes New Orleans, New Orleans is the nightlife. We did what people do in New Orleans. You can't really describe it, you just have to go there, explore it on your own. I can just tell anybody, go there and have fun, I hope the pictures speak for themselves.

I was one of the first to go back to the hotel. I got up at three in the morning and ran around the city all day. I was exhausted. So it was 11:30 at night when I went back to the hotel with two other girls. I slept pretty well, probably because of the alcohol. But I woke up at 6 in the morning and couldn't go back to sleep, so I layed around in my bed until it was time to first eat breakfast and second go on the tour. We visited Jackson Square, Frenchmen Street, the Museum and Arts District, Garden District, Louis Armstrong Park, City Park, and St. Louis Cemetery. That night, we went to Frenchmen Street, but didn't really enjoy it, so we went back to Bourbon Street, but it wasn't as fun as the first night, so we went back early, which was not too bad for me because I was tired and had to get up early the next morning.

When I sat in the plane back to Washington DC, I was thinking about that weekend. I regret that I didn't take time to explore the city on my own. Whatever, I was working on trying not to regret things I can't change. So I tried to just forget about it, which worked kind of well, until now. I had a great time and there is no reason to regret anything.
The next week of work was kind of hard because I didn't have a lot of time to relax. Plus, I had to work on Friday too because Gerry's grandma was ill. But I went ice skating with a friend and went to Georgetown with another friend. Sunday, I just relaxed.
