Sanur (Bali Part 9)

Yayınlanan: 03.10.2018

Our last hotel in Bali was located in Sanur right on the beach, as we wanted to relax before continuing our journey to Australia.

We relaxed on the beach in the shade of some trees in the morning, when our well-deserved rest was suddenly interrupted: We were suddenly bombarded with peanut shells from above. Only a closer look revealed the well-camouflaged culprits: Several banana squirrels were climbing the branches of the tree above us.

They were being fed peanuts on the trunk, which they then carried up the tree to consume their loot at a safe height. We watched the cute spectacle for a while and then returned to our reading undisturbed after all the peanuts had been consumed.

In the afternoon, we explored the center of Sanur and ate in a small warung off the main shopping street. The dining area was next to the open area of the family - we could see the television, clothes rack, and more. The food was probably prepared in the family kitchen and was incredibly cheap: We paid the equivalent of 1.84 Euros for two main courses with drinks...

On the way back to the hotel, we made a short stop at a bar where we had a cocktail with a sea view. It was actually still a bit early, but the view and happy hour tempted us to join the other holidaymakers and have a drink before the evening.

The next day was dedicated to relaxation again, although in the morning we first took part in the hotel's Aqua Aerobics for some exercise. Together with a group of French people who didn't understand all the English instructions but counted loudly in Indonesian, we hopped through the pool...

In the afternoon, I decided to experiment and went to a massage salon on the street instead of the expensive wellness area of the hotel. There are many of these salons here - basically almost all the houses along the streets tourists walk through are either restaurants, spas, or tour operators.

Outside the salon, I was greeted with a friendly 'Massaasch?' and then led to a bed that was at least separated from the three massage spots next to it by a curtain. At least the towel for the face looked clean, even though I certainly wasn't the first one to lie on the towel on the bed...

The massage was very good - even better than the ones I had in the hotel spas - and all for about 4.30 Euros per hour...
