D14 - Kama’ole beach and Haleakala crater sunset

- Beach day at Kama‘ole beach with some decent open water swimming and beach time
- A nice salad lunch at home
- Picked up our friends in Kahului to ride over to see the Haleakala crater.
- Pretty long ride of 1,5hrs up there nearly all the way to the summit at 3057m altitude!!! Down from 0m at the level!!
- And also from hot and humid 30C degrees down to about 4 or 5 up at the summit where it felt even colder with the windchill! Have a look at how we are dressed, really like cold autumn hiking at home with hats and warm jackets, had packed gloves in my luggage but forgot to take them…
- View had been foggy and it’s been really wet as we’ve been in the clouds but once so often it cleared up and the sun and the contours of the observatories on top appeared from the haze, really magically.
- Driving down, the fogginess lifted and we go some majestically clear views above the clouds.
- Finished that Halloween day with a nice pizza at Black rock pizza place at Kihei.
