For a day, the journey from Moscow to St. Petersburg is too long. Therefore, we stop halfway (about 400 km) in Waldai. The vibrations in the bus were slightly negative today - bus sickness.
At noon, there was an opportunity to admire the Volga River for the last time in Tver (formerly Kalinin). In the Middle Ages, Tver competed with Moscow for supremacy in Russia. The result is known.
The people from Moscow like to go to Waldai for their summer vacation. The large Lake Waldai is perfect for this. The Iversky Monastery is located on an island in the lake. In the evening sun, a very contemplative and peaceful atmosphere prevailed.
We spend the night directly on Lake Waldai in a simple hotel (Amaks) with a very socialist charm. Everything is clean, the staff is nice, and the drinks are as cheap as nowhere else in Russia. Not bad at all.
