Today we took a trip to Chiang Rai in the far north on the border with Laos. From here you could take a two-day boat trip across the Mekong to Luang Prabang in Laos. We had very nice fellow travelers Denise and Rebecca from South Carolina, 68 and 60 years old. Real globetrotters A young couple from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Henry and Dorothy from Liverpool, who also want to travel through Thailand for two months. Very amusing and entertaining. First we were at a hot spring where the water comes out of the earth at 90 degrees. Ideal for cooking eggs. Of course, this is used directly for tourists... 🙄 Afterwards we first visited the white temple, the Buddhist gate to heaven. Already impressive. It will continue to be built for at least 100 years. The whole temple looks like it is snowed in. Only the building with the toilets was in gold, of course spotlessly clean and free of charge. Afterwards we went to the blue temple and then to a museum in the black house. It has to be said that these attractions are exploited to the fullest for tourists. So it doesn't have much to do with original Thailand anymore. It's actually a shame...It's currently burning season, the farmers are burning down the fields for the new sowing. Luckily it wasn't such a big area anymore, but you could still smell it.
