After a very good breakfast with Padres Juan and Pablo in Osorno (we spent the night with them), my uncle, Padre Heriberto and I started our journey to Patagonia - in the Peugeot bus. "Peugi" was supposed to take us about 9500 km through the southernmost part of America...
The day before, we covered almost 1000 km from Santiago to Osorno. The Padre has lived in Chile for over 50 years and I was able to experience this adventure with him. An unforgettable journey...
Before we headed towards Bariloche across the Argentinian border, we visited the Brink family (friends of my uncle) at Lago Rupanco. After a little refreshment with bread and palta (avocado), we headed off to the border. From the "gateway to Patagonia", Entre Lagos, we then drove towards Bariloche.
At the Chilean and Argentinian borders we had to spend a total of about 2.5 hours on controls and paperwork, something that Europeans are no longer used to. But every minute was worth it. Crossing the border pass at the Caso Cardinal Antonio Samore was a feast for the eyes.
We urgently needed to stop at Salto Los Novios (Married Couples Waterfall).
The three lakes "Lago Puyehue", "Lago Rupanco" and "Lago Nahuel Huapi" in the districts "Los Rios" and "Los Lagos" .... indescribably beautiful!
After a good Argentinian steak at Don Aurelio in the village of Villa Catredal, we ended the evening exhausted but happy and very impressed.
