Delicious Gaumenschmaus

Çap edildi: 08.10.2018

Yesterday we arrived in San Diego.

After returning the rental car, we were able to check into our motel room.

Then it was time to explore the area. A few blocks later, with growling stomachs, we discovered Hodad's. Very inconspicuous from the outside, but insane on the inside. The walls were covered with license plates and stickers. The service was just as extraordinary as the restaurant itself. We ordered our food and were amazed when those mega burgers came. One bite was not enough to get meat, buns, and salad. However, incredibly delicious.

Afterwards, we strolled around and found our motel again.

Later in the evening, we heard screams outside. Since we had to go to the reception anyway, we wanted to see what was going on. The motel staff was already standing in front of the entrance. They explained to us that it was a homeless person high on drugs. We watched his behavior with concern. When he started spitting at cars and almost jumped in front of them, the police were called.

We saw many people on the street here. Most are peaceful and just want to be left alone. However, there are also occasional ones who shout and harass people.

This morning we had bagels for breakfast again. Bruegger's offers a wide selection and you can create your own customized bagel.

With full stomachs, we then went to Downtown. We walked all the way across until we reached the harbor. There we took the ferry to Coronado Island. $10 per person for round trip.

A very idyllic island and especially larger than expected. We walked for about 2 hours before we found the landing station again. And we only saw a fraction of the island. Since our ferry was not there yet, we decided to grab something to eat. We got Club Sandwiches at Crown Town Deli. Prepared fresh right in front of our eyes.

Back on the mainland, we went to the USS Midway. This old aircraft carrier now functions as an aircraft and naval museum. Here you can learn everything about the exhibited airplanes and life on board such a ship. What made the information even more exciting was that the narrator presented it as memories and experiences from a first-person perspective. So while listening to the audio guide, you really felt like sitting in the cockpit during the flight maneuvers.

In the dark, we strolled through the Gaslamp Quarter. Here, bar after bar and restaurant after restaurant line up. We decided to have dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. The 20-minute wait for a table was definitely worth it. Pasta like in Italy and a good Moscato. That's how you can enjoy yourself!

A salad was included. It's strange how you suddenly miss it when there is almost only fast food available.

With full stomachs from dinner and sunburned heads from the afternoon, we returned to the motel. Tomorrow we will continue to Los Angeles, which we are now preparing for.
