Limpieza de playas - Everywhere plastic!

Summer has arrived in Lima, it's hot and everyone wants to go to the beach. Especially on the weekends, the city's beaches fill up with people.

People bring food and drinks, wrapped in plastic. Unfortunately, this plastic usually doesn't end up where it belongs - in the trash can - but simply on the beach.

A large part of this plastic is gradually washed into the sea, posing a danger to marine life.

This is exactly the problem in Punta Negra as well. That's why we, from the NGO Las Semillas de Santa Teresa, armed ourselves with garbage bags and went to the beach on a Sunday. There, on the one hand, we distributed garbage bags to the beachgoers and made them aware that they should take all their waste in these bags and leave them in the trash can, instead of simply throwing everything on the beach.

On the other hand, we also picked up several bottles, paper towels, candy wrappers, and more from the beach and took them to the containers.

In just a few minutes, we filled several bags with plastic and other waste that careless visitors had simply left behind.

A small good deed for a beach, on a day in Lima. Of course, there are many more polluted beaches and more garbage is added every day. That's why it's important for more people to do many small good deeds. And, above all, for beach visitors to become aware of nature and take their trash with them in the future!

We hope that with our small action, we can contribute a little to this awareness and inspire others to treat our beaches and our environment with more respect.
