We are back in Denmark!
Lush green confuses the senses.
I need some time to pick it up again and feel normal. Being close to the beach is good. Only two main colors, that works better for starters.
In Lønstrup, I rent a camping cabin and seriously wash my laundry for the first time. Whew, that was necessary.
Lighthouses - I like to visit them and Denmark has quite a few ...
The tower in Lønstrup is called Rubjerg Knude Fyr. This tower is located in the midst of hiking dunes and has already been moved. The last time was in 2019. I feel comfortable, among the roses, sand, and dunes.
I visit another lighthouse in the north of Denmark. It is located in Grenen near Skagen. More specifically on the Baltic Sea beach. A few meters further and the waves of the North Sea merge with those of the Baltic Sea. Wonderfully short distances, from one sea to another 😃
A stranded seal pup is there, surrounded by people at a safe distance. Help is on the way. I will come back to Hildegard's parking lot with the 'Sandworm'.
I am very impressed by the visit to the Coastal Museum in Skagen. Rescue attempts of stranded ships are described in a very impressive way. How many times did a crew have to start the rescue mission all over again 120 years ago because the sea was too heavy? Many of the men died in the process. However, the stranded ships also brought riches and coveted products ashore. So every stranded ship was a stroke of luck for the very modest people living in the region.
Today, many people in both Denmark and Iceland make a living from tourism. Skagen has become a beautiful town for tourists' eyes.
By the way, the age of the houses is distinguished from old to young by the colors of the houses: Black (tarred) until about 1875, Yellow (half-timbered) until about 1907, Red (bricks) from 1907 onwards. I learned that 😉
For me, there was a delicious fish meal in Skagen. For Hildegard, there was the best of Shell, V-Power Racing, and she greedily swallowed over 9 liters. In Iceland, there was mainly E10 petrol.
