My time in Cape Town

After recovering from the long journey and finally getting my luggage, on Monday I finally started exploring the city. Unfortunately, the weather was rather lousy, especially on Monday...in Hamburg, they would call it proper 'Schietwetter' 😂 At first, my impression of Cape Town was quite mixed. The contrasts between wealth and poverty can be seen almost everywhere and felt quite strange at first. Nevertheless, I can currently say that I really like the city. Especially the many different cultures make the whole stay very interesting. A good example of this mix of cultures, but also of wealth and poverty, is Long Street in the center of Cape Town. There, simple eateries and restaurants with cuisines from all over the world are lined up together with trendy boutiques, cafes, and bars.

Another thing that I, as a European, had to get used to is driving on the left side 😅 I think it happened to me at least three times that I thought 'huh, why doesn't the car have a driver' until I remembered, oh yes, here, we drive on the left side 😂

After the weather fortunately improved on Tuesday, I used a Hop and Hoff Sightseeing bus to explore the area around Cape Town in more detail. I particularly liked the town of Camps Bay and its beach. Afterwards, I took a short boat trip in the harbor at the Waterfront. On Wednesday, it was time to climb Table Mountain. At first, I had planned to hike up on foot. But laziness won in the end, and I took the cable car 😅 And what can I say...it was definitely worth it. The view over Cape Town was truly breathtaking. Fortunately, on Wednesday, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, so there were no limitations to the visibility 😃 Now it's Thursday and I used the day to stroll through the city once again and run some errands. Tomorrow morning, I will take the train to Johannesburg...27 hours of travel are waiting for me. I am really excited to see how it will be 😃
