Hey! Happy New Year! 🎆

Here is a new update from my trip to California and you can also see a lot of photos.

Hope still get everything together, what I was able to experience from mid-December to New Year. 😃

On the 18th of December our break started. I flew with dear Anna. 🛫  At the airport, Anna had been looking for a bolster. A saleswoman in a store asked us if we worked in the military, because then there would be a discount. Felt honored for a brief moment. Do I really look like I'm an American soldier? 😂 Not to mention that I'm from Germany.... We flew from Pittsburgh to New York City and from there to San Francisco. Flight duration: 6 1/2 hours. That was a really long time. We didn't have seats together before. But since there was no one else sitting next to Anna, we asked if we could sit together. That was then also okay. 😄 Since it was already going towards the long-haul flight, although it was only in the U.S., there were also many snacks and a meal.

Arrived in San Francisco, we were then also picked up by the mother. The airport looked really modern. The most beautiful one I have ever seen. I had to marvel as we walked past a museum in the airport building and really big sofa lounges, kids playground equipment, modern water refill stations and so on... 😂

The first day we went horseback riding on a Ranch of Anna's friend. Then there was natural horseback riding in the many almond tree fields. There are trees everywhere! So if you're wondering where all the almonds at the Christmas markets come from, it's probably from California! The area where I was is one of the largest almond tree plantations in the world. 😅

There are other things growing there as well. For example, we always had access to orange, avocado, lemon, lime or pomegranate trees. I really could eat healthy. ☺️ I also looked at a greenhouse, which is what the family runs.

During my time there, we also baked something often. I really had to show my host family the puff pastry Nutella star! 😍 I like to do advertising for Ferrero. 😂

December 24: I call my family, so that I can be on Christmas Eve but with the help of FaceTime in the cozy round in Germany. A little home feeling and a familiar view of my, (now I wanted to say past 😂) my home.

Then Christmas was there. 🎄 Of course, again on December 25. 🎅🏻 Early in the morning we all searched our stockings. There were some little things hiding inside. 😉

After that, the gifts were opened under the tree. How nice when you can give each other something after all! 🎁 Of course, it's still a little weird for me to unwrap the gifts in the morning and celebrate Christmas the next day. 🤣

Another trip we had were the big redwood trees! 🌲 They are also called Giant Sequoia. They are located in Calaveras, California. They are really huge. You get a stiff neck when you look up or you get a crooked back when you try to get a cool photo. 😎

Another trip we took was to Half Moon Bay. That was the first place I saw the Pacific Ocean as well. 🌊 A small fishing town was there and a small beach area. Took a few pictures there. Here comes my story about the flower pictures. No, I didn't buy any flowers specially for this. They were just lying on the beach. Our theory: A man proposed to a woman and then threw the flowers into the sand when she said no. Do you have another idea? Well, in any case, we used them then, as a kind of prop. 😂 There were a lot of things lying around on the beach. Shells, seaweed, stones, half-dead animals....

A spontaneous idea had fallen: Let's go on to San Francisco and see the famous Golden Gate Bridge! I was there, of course. 🤪 It is just as I had imagined. We looked at different perspectives. 🙃

I also got to drive in California once. 🚘 Man did I miss that. I don't get the opportunity here that often. 😜 Was of course fully automatic, but still super cool! 😎 Have just been cruising around a bit. Have looked at a few parks.

The city of Sacramento we have also looked at another day. It is also a somewhat larger city. There were many tourist stores. In this city is also the 'State Capitol', where I think the governor of California works. 🙂

On Thursday it went back for me already. The time runs as always faster than you can think. But before it went in the evening then to the airport, we have once again looked at the city of San Francisco. ☺️ I have seen the Coit Tower, China town, the Lombard Street (runs zigzag) and the famous 'Cable Cars'. I don't want to live there though. Way too mountainous and it's all up and down. 😅

My flight left San Francisco at 9:50 pm on Thursday. Bottom line: I don't like night flights. Definitely not 4 1/2 long or longer. I couldn't really sleep. Then the time difference of three hours to Pennsylvania and 9 hours to Germany. After a layover in Detroit about three hours, where I almost finished writing my book report for this month in the early morning and kept myself afloat with Coke, it was on to Pittsburgh, where I was picked up by a dear co-worker. Had a little jet lag. After a nap of two hours, however, I continued on, as it was New Year's Day. 🎉

There was a New Year's Eve bonfire in Spartansburg. I really wanted to go there! 😍 I had not seen fireworks last year New Year's Eve. Beautiful!💥 Along with a big fire, which was turned on. 🔥

I am back at the Ranch in Pennsylvania now. 🐎 On Monday all the students come back and then the 'school day' starts again. Next Grading Day is not this Tuesday but next Tuesday. I like learn & travel so far. 😉🌎

Happy rest of the holidays to you! I'm catching up on some sleep now. 🤪

Bye✌🏻
