As the name suggests, the end is all about relaxing - sleeping in, going to the beach to surf, strolling around, etc.
With a few creative tricks, I can also fit a surfboard in the car.
Can you see the imprint of the flip flops?
The hostel is really great, they have surfboards, karaoke, and bonfires on the beach ("the most American thing ever" would be to grill hotdogs there..). I'll even try out the yoga class.
On Wednesday evenings, there's the farmers market - the place to be. In San Diego, people know how to live. Hanging out with the people from the hostel has been a lot of fun.
(My enthusiasm for documenting things has fallen victim to laziness..)
Regarding surfing: I try out a total of 3 surf spots in San Diego. Surfing is a popular sport here, you can rent boards cheaply at almost any beach. There are also always people in the water at any time of day or night.
The Californians often approach the waves from the side, which I had not known before..
I manage to paddle into high waves multiple times, but I regularly get wiped out with a nosedive. The wave suddenly becomes incredibly steep, and I can already tell beforehand that it won't work like that - so I still need to take a surf course.
Overall, I'm satisfied though. Surfing was fun and there were also good waves :).
