Day 3 - To Denmark

ተሓቲሙ: 01.08.2018

Goodbye Hamburg, it was nice being with you. Next stop Denmark, specifically Aalborg and then Hirtshals. The journey seems to fly by for me as a passenger. The mixture of heat, lack of sleep, and a landscape that seems to consist mainly of cornfields is not conducive to my alertness. We skip the planned city tour in Aalborg, neither of us has the desire to walk around a overheated city, let alone deal with things like parking with a T5 and bicycles. Instead, we find a campground near Saltum. It's strange, I think to myself, here it looks a bit like some coastal villages in Brittany (except for the architecture of the houses). I can't exactly define why, but it's probably a combination of small houses, small souvenir and craft shops, and street signs or roads themselves that look very similar to those in France. The campground immediately appears friendly, not far from the sea, you can even hear it, and far from civilization. The lady at the reception is a very warm-hearted person and speaks perfect German with a nice Danish accent, which surprises us. After settling in, we pack our things and ride our bikes to the beach. It pulls me there with an irresistible force. The way there is short and leads through a landscape characterized by pine trees and small wooden holiday homes, which soon turns into a picturesque dune landscape. After passing through the dunes, we have a view of a beautiful wide sandy beach. Despite the cold wind, I immediately get into the water, and there it is, that feeling of absolute happiness! How little does one need for that...

To our surprise, it is allowed and common in some beaches in the area, including this one, to drive directly to the sea with a car, which is eagerly practiced throughout the evening, a quite crazy spectacle for us. We even see a kind of expedition vehicle on a MAN truck base, a huge monster. The people...

Satisfied, we cycle "home" in the sunset and on this short stretch we catch sight of a pheasant and a deer in the undergrowth.

P.S.: The ladybug in the picture was saved from the floods.
