Tag 133: Plane crash day in Seattle

ተሓቲሙ: 16.07.2018

After having a great sleep, I had breakfast at the hostel (cornflakes were once again a real delight) and then made my way to the car rental. I had reserved a car there because the Boeing factory in Everett (about 30 minutes north of downtown) is not accessible by public transportation. Upon arrival, I got a 90-minute tour of the production halls of the 747, 777, and 787. After learning so much about Airbus during my studies, it was very interesting to see the "competition" here in America. After the factory tour, there was a small museum and an observation deck to explore. However, I didn't want to waste too much time here because I wanted to visit the largest private aircraft museum in the USA, which I reached after about an hour's drive.

For those who aren't interested in airplanes, feel free to skip this paragraph! I couldn't stop grinning as I saw all the special airplanes there. Here's a list: Boeing 727 Air Force One used by Eisenhower, the first 747, the third Dreamliner, B-52, SR-71, and Concorde. Just to mention a few of the eye-catchers... Anyway, I was absolutely overwhelmed and the three hours in the museum flew by.

After visiting the museum, I still had the rental car for another six hours before I had to return it to the airport. So I started driving aimlessly towards Mt. Rainier, which could be seen in the distance. The mountain was particularly captivating because its summit wasn't completely covered in snow. I drove around in all directions before making my way back to the airport. There, I returned the car, checked in for my flight to Fairbanks, and less than two hours later, I was already on my way to Anchorage in the first plane.
