Colorful Matsue

ተሓቲሙ: 19.10.2018

A rather small charming town (150,000 inhabitants). Many things are within walking distance or can be reached by the practical historical loop bus, which goes around the city every 20 minutes and you can get on and off anywhere.

Unfortunately, everything here is written in Japanese, Chinese, and probably Korean. Fortunately, there is the tourist information at the train station with materials in English, but then it's up to you to find your way around.

So for three days, I wandered through the city, on and off the bus.

One of the few castles that has been preserved since 1611 and has not been destroyed by fire or earthquake.

The older children were drawing at the castle.
The younger ones climbed inside the castle tower...
There was still a class in the tower.

Even more lined up... the countless little foxes at Jozan Inari Shrine

Matsue is a small Venice. Many canals run through the city. At the same time, it is located on the huge Shinji Lake (freshwater) and the Nakumi Lagoon (saltwater).

The boat ride provides many additional impressions

When possible, the Japanese hang the laundry outside on the balcony to kill the germs with the sun, because they wash with cold water in the washing machine.

Again and again, you come across small, lovingly designed 'islands' for reflection and/or gratitude.
