We traveled from Suzhou to Shanghai by bullet train. The hostel we stayed at was more like a hotel with a great location.
Of course, we visited the Bund together and enjoyed the view of the skyline. It was nice to see that you can go there without having a claustrophobic attack😅
After the short city tour, we were allowed to explore on our own and then made our way back to the hostel. While most of the group went to the Shanghai Center in the evening to enjoy the view from the second tallest building in the world, I spent the evening at a dumpling cooking class. I'm looking forward to cooking it at home😋
After a delicious breakfast, we went to the Propaganda 'Museum' the next morning, which turned out to be an exhibition of a private poster collection. The entrance, which led to the basement of a residential building, looked quite shady. But the visit was still worthwhile. I have attached the best samples 😉
We spent the evening near the Bund again to enjoy the skyline.
The next morning, Hannah and I got up early because we had two things left on our bucket list. So we took the metro to the Jade Buddha Temple.
Spontaneously, we were allowed to copy Buddhist scriptures with the locals. Chinese calligraphy challenged us and demanded a lot of concentration. After an hour of meditative writing, our sheets were full and we made our way to our last stop in Shanghai, the museum.
There we explored a part of Chinese history. From jade, furniture, and coins to paintings and calligraphy, we were able to inspect them quickly. Because soon we had to head back to the hotel to meet our well-rested fellow travelers.
