In the first few days, we did a lot together. I got along great with everyone right from the start and felt at home right away. I spent almost every day at the pool and even did sports twice a day sometimes. But that was necessary because of what we ate every day. I didn't necessarily gain weight, but my body still changed a lot. I also got to know my grandparents, who were really nice and looked like Santa & Mrs. Claus. We went out to eat, went shopping together, and I met new people through my host sister. I didn't think about my real family or my friends back home at all during this time. I just felt good and everything was so new, beautiful, and exciting.
The most memorable thing from these days was the boat tour I took with the family. The day was simply incredibly beautiful. We went out to sea, saw dolphins, and stopped at a "lonely" island. It was really wonderful. I felt good on that day, like a part of the family, as if I had always lived here. On the island, we had a perfect view of the Sunshine Bridge, and the water was also beautiful (which was not normal because there were bacteria in the water in Florida at the time that were killing the fish). We took pictures together, snacked, and even found a turtle. At the harbor, we had dinner together and had a lot of fun.
And then school started...
