Siquijor is a small island and for many Filipinos a mystical island full of witches and supernatural phenomena and known for healers with magical powers.
Siquijor is a dreamy beautiful little island and fortunately not yet overrun by tourism. As a European tourist, you may still be stared at in amazement. The locals are super friendly and helpful, the children wave and shout at you constantly.
The best way to explore the island is by scooter on the 72 km long ring road. There are some beautiful beaches, caves, waterfalls and much more to discover.
I spent the first two nights in a very undeveloped tourist area of the island in Maria in a beach resort. Resort is not quite the right word for this accommodation, everything was very simple, but still very nice. This resort is used almost exclusively by Filipino tourists, so they all looked confused when I arrived there with my scooter and backpack. But I was warmly welcomed and protected and had to take pictures with all the Filipino guests. I spent the remaining nights in a hostel in a slightly more lively part of the island. The time on Siquijor was simply indescribably beautiful. I once again met incredibly wonderful people (other travelers and locals), explored the island with them, relaxed on the beautiful beaches, jumped off cliffs and partied through the nights. Once again, it was extremely difficult for me to leave this wonderful island and say goodbye to my newly made friends.
