Kenting&Kaohsiung 🤿

I then continued by train and bus to the southernmost place in Taiwan, Kenting. It is known for its beautiful beaches and is a diving paradise. Hence my plan to finally finish my diving license. To do this, I went to a diving school the next day and booked the last two dives for the next day. After that, I wanted to look around the area a bit and walked around a bit. But when I saw the nuclear power plant right on the beach, I felt a bit different and headed back. But then I stayed in a nearby town and looked around a bit and waited for the rain. Since it was still raining in the afternoon when I got back to the hostel, I sat down with my laptop and spent the afternoon brushing up on my diving knowledge. In the evening, I went to the night market for dinner and then straight to bed so that I would be fit for tomorrow. I set off pretty early, as there was no bus there in the morning, so I grabbed a bike and rode there. After a quick theory check, we went into the water. First we repeated and practiced a few basics in the water. Then we did our first 45-minute dive. Since I was sick on my first dives in the Philippines and couldn't really enjoy it, I enjoyed it all the more this time. After an hour's break, we did our second dive. I saw turtles, glow-in-the-dark fish and lots of different corals. After an hour of diving, this was unfortunately over. Full of pride and joy, I cycled back to a nearby beach for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening, we got something to eat at the night market and a few beers at the supermarket and sat outside the hostel until 2 a.m. and let the day come to an end. The next day, I went on to Kaohsiung. From now on, it was back up the west coast towards Taipei. So it was another 5-hour bus and train ride north to Kaohsiung. This is the second largest city in Taiwan. But honestly, there's not really much to do in this city. So the next day I took it easy and cycled a bit through the city and walked to a lookout point with a view over the city. By chance I passed a festival. The "Dragon Boat Festival", where there was also a big market and various dragon boat races took place. I spent the afternoon there. In the evening we celebrated the birthday of a friend I met in Taiwan. We actually wanted to experience the nightlife of Kaohsiung but unfortunately there wasn't much to do and so we went for 7-11 beer again. After I had a good night's sleep and packed my backpack again, we went back to the train station and continued north. 🫶🏼
