The adventures of Hannes Wertz or Dubrovnik there and back

ተሓቲሙ: 12.05.2017

Soooo we finally have a stable internet connection again :-)

The day before yesterday (10.05.), we went from Trogir to Mlini. A small tranquil town behind Dubrovnik. The journey there was already something special. If you come from the north, you have a gigantic view of Dubrovnik, but only of the new part of the city.

The next day we took a taxi boat to Dubrovnik. I had Hannes in a baby carrier, as we didn't know how else to manage with a stroller, many stairs, a boat, and the old town. But it was perfect! Hannes thought it was great to always be in the middle of everything. And he even slept in it.

So Hannes' premiere of going on a boat, apart from sailing during pregnancy :-) there was already some wind, and apart from a bit of complaining in the beginning, he did well.

Dubrovnik is surrounded by an incredibly huge city wall. You can even walk around the city on the wall, but €50 was too much for us. Although the view is definitely worth seeing.

The alleys in the old town are arranged like a chessboard (similar to New York), which means a strong wind blows through the narrow streets.

90% of the shops are restaurants, bars, or cafes. They will probably be crowded during the high season. We were lucky.

Here and there, street musicians played and from time to time, a small church appeared.

In the afternoon, we visited a museum about the conflicts in Croatia, Yugoslavia, and the Gaza Strip. It was quite depressing and also frightening to see what happened not too long ago. There were only photographs on display, and they were described in a booklet. It made us very thoughtful...

And then we went back by boat. The boatmen didn't want to take us and told us to take the bus instead. They would only stop at the place before our stop and then we would have to walk uphill and downhill for about 10 minutes.

Although we had a round-trip ticket... They said 'It's your choice'... We had interpreted it as a walk and thought it wouldn't be a problem.

On board and a few minutes later, it became clear to us what we had misunderstood. They didn't mean the walk, but the rough sea...

In Jürgen's words, there was Caribbean choppy seas in the Adriatic :-) So if you didn't sit under the canopy, you were soaked. I was already imagining how I should swim with Hannes in the carrier on my chest ....

But we arrived :-D

A natural spectacle doesn't wait for another one. Fortunately, we had decided to pack everything up in the evening, as we wanted to head to Orebic on the peninsula just before Dubrovnik the next day.

When we crawled into Hannes' bed later, we couldn't sleep a wink because it was so stormy. I even considered whether the bus could overturn...

In the night, I used a flashlight to fish our clothes out of the neighbor's yard, bushes, and trees, which we had washed in the evening...

Of course, Hannes had to wake up an hour earlier all fit and well-rested - 5 am! - we had just closed our eyes...

At 9 o'clock, we continued, after shopping, we arrived here at 12 o'clock and let everything go.
