Finally, the time had come! Aaron got his beach day! For us, of course, it was no special feat to accompany him...
So today we drove to the beach in Chatham on Nantucket Sound. The weather was great! Sunny, light wind, about 25 degrees Celsius. The obligatory $20 was paid at the parking lot entrance. It took a while for us to be able to drive into the parking lot because I didn't want to let go of the money bill and the old man who inhabited the ticket booth was pulling on the other side of the bill. After about ten minutes, Nicole slapped my hand, and we were allowed to pass the checkpoint.
The beach was beautiful and not too crowded.
Nicole and I made ourselves comfortable on the beach chairs provided by our hostess Peg. Aaron immediately jumped into the water.
It was actually a little warmer than on the island side, which is right on the open Atlantic Ocean. There, the polar bears in the water wear an extra fur coat as well as scarves and gloves, but here they do without them. Aaron shouted to us from the water that there were some stones on the seabed, but they were ice cubes. It was so cold that the fish floated in the water like fish sticks...
But that didn't stop Aaron from swimming.
The seagulls here are particularly cunning. While we were devouring a snack, one walked around us whistling inconspicuously and pretended to be completely disinterested, almost lying down on our chairs. But of course, we kept an eye on our food.
We headed home at five. The grill was fired up again today. Initially, the plan was to make hot dogs. So the dog of our landlord was ethically killed and Nicole butchered him.
But she still lacks some practice, so there were still too many hairs on the meat. Therefore, we had steak and burgers again.
Tomorrow is our last day. The plan is to go on a whale-watching tour followed by a visit to the beach.
