On this day, we say goodbye to the Breton Atlantic coast. No more steep, rocky paths beside blue water, but inland. We also wanted to see the Canal-Brest-Nantes, after all, the original plan was to cycle the entire canal (about 340 km). But the Atlantic coast won. So now we gather a few quick impressions and find our decision to be right. We can also cycle on towpaths next to a canal in Germany (Havel, Elbe, Oder, ..), and we have already collected corresponding impressions from a houseboat.
Then the journey became a bit restless!? Not because of the roads, they are very well laid out and developed here. Sometimes we don't even know if we are on a highway or an upgraded country road. In any case, it still drives very relaxed, without any critical situations! The restlessness came because we suddenly received messages from our landlord in Rennes. We were supposed to inform him of our arrival time and he sent us a link with which we would receive the access code to the house. But all attempts to get this information failed miserably. Nothing opened and after the third attempt, we contacted the accommodation directly. Even all of that was not very satisfying. The reader can imagine how the mood in the car was. WE SIMPLY DON'T MASTER THESE MOBILE BOXES WELL ENOUGH!? And there we were in front of the door, or rather a garden gate, and found nothing. No display to enter a code and no names, only a doorbell button. Pressing it didn't do anything at first and then a voice came, telling us that the apartments were in number 49. That was not the code, but the correct house number, because Bookingcom had indicated 51. But we couldn't get in there either. So call again and with the phone to our ear, the announcement came with the correct code. We had managed the first door. After that, we were supposed to open a safe key box with a different combination of numbers, but it didn't open, it was the wrong one. Luckily, a young woman appeared and showed us our vacation apartment. There were actually three different apartments here and with the phone to our ear, we were finally able to open the right key box. I must mention in passing that I had already forgotten all the codes and was completely confused again. Fortunately, the woman wrote everything down for us on a piece of paper and we finally felt safe!!! Such experiences totally unsettle you, and so we understand much better why people book organized trips. They don't have this stress! But we still don't really want to do such trips yet, even if we sometimes experience such 'highlights'!
In the evening, we went shopping (Carefour) and stocked up on food and drink. There was a great kitchenette and we still had potatoes from the campsite. Frozen organic vegetables with potatoes, enriched with cheese wedges and tied together with an Indian ready-made soup tasted wonderful. But operating the ceramic hob was not immediately successful, and it was only after a longer internet search for the operating instructions that we were able to cook everything. Even such a double hotplate can sometimes be a problem. I believe that many other users will fail at this as well. Fail, just like us when we tried to use the in-house Wi-Fi network. I have never followed so many tips from the internet and dove very deep into my settings. It didn't work, and the repeated frustration of this day washed away a bottle of red wine in the evening. I could enjoy it very relaxed, because we managed to activate Netflix - superheroes of technology - and the evening ended with The Crown! Quite the exhausting day!
