Day of departure

I'm already on the plane in Frankfurt and soon we'll be heading south!

The last week was nice (and exhausting) and the 3/3 rabies vaccinations wanted to see me suffer. Nevertheless, everything somehow worked out and I'm super excited!

In addition to my own luggage, I'm also taking the 20kg donations seen in the picture. For free! Pretty cool, right?

Later, a driver will pick me up at Kilimanjaro Airport and take me directly to my host family in Sanya Juu (the J is pronounced like in English). Sanya Juu is located 1200 meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, 1 1/2 hours away from the nearest big city, Moshi. There, I will volunteer at the Hope Evangelist Mission, or HEM for short, an orphanage for 15 primary school children.

I'll only find out more details about the family, the facility, and the location once I'm there. :)
