Hi there,
Today we have surpassed the 2000km mark. It has to be said that driving in the USA is really easy and pleasant. No one needs to be afraid of it. So far, on this long journey, we haven't encountered any traffic jams or road construction sites that would have hindered the traffic. And generally, when I think about it, I don't think I've even seen a single car with a breakdown on the side. That's something we can't achieve even from Perl to Saarbrücken in Germany :-)
Anyway, we started the day with the Bryce Canyon. There was quite a bit of wildlife activity in the morning, as you probably saw in the group videos. Also, this time the canyon was even more beautiful in the first rays of sun.
After that, we continued towards Page, a small town that is centrally located to many points of interest. Here we first visited Horseshoe Bend, which is basically the same as the Saar Loop, just a bit bigger and more impressive... or actually much more :-)
A truly unique piece of nature... but see for yourself in the picture:
Then we went to the nearby Upper Antelope Canyon, a very beautiful rock formation that developed over 190 million years. We had to travel there with a special truck because a regular car cannot reach it. It was a quite bumpy tour, but it was definitely worth it.
Finally, we were supposed to go to Monument Valley. We have just arrived here (with over an hour delay) in
Monument Valley. Unfortunately, the navigation system and I misunderstood each other - but oh well. Our cabin here and the view make up for it :-) We are currently sitting on the terrace and writing our blog for today. Since the internet here in the middle of the prairie is not very good, the pictures will probably take forever to upload.
Here I am writing the blog. Unfortunately, the landscape in the background doesn't come across as well :-(
But the landscapes today were amazing. I can only say Winnetou. You thought at any moment that a few cowboys & Indians would come around the corner on their horses.
Tomorrow morning we want to get up early to take some beautiful photos here (with still little traffic) and then we will continue to the next and probably most famous highlight: the Grand Canyon.
So stay tuned and greetings to Germany.
Dean + Luisa
Oh yeah: Today we also saw our first coyote and wild horses :-)
And yes, the pictures are a bit scarce today due to the internet.
