Västerås (21.08.2018)

After having breakfast and getting ready, we drove to the city center of Västerås. We parked the car in a parking garage where later it turned out that we had to pay over 10€ for 4 hours. We found it a bit excessive.

Marie and I explored the city and went to some shops. Then we headed towards a memorial park. We sat on a viewpoint there, which offered a beautiful view of the city. We took a short break and had our meal.

After resting, we went back to the city center and visited the city park and the castle from the outside.

Since we had read about a botanical garden, we wanted to visit that as well and enjoy the afternoon there. However, we got lost on the way. When we finally found the garden, we sat on a bench and enjoyed the sun. Some strange men approached us there and started a somewhat awkward conversation. At first, we ignored them, but they persisted. Eventually, we managed to remove ourselves from the situation and were glad to move on.

As it was getting late, we drove back to the campsite. We decided to spontaneously jump into the lake right next to the site. However, it turned out to be quite cold and not very clean. After that, we took a nice warm shower.

Back at the tent, we realized we had a new neighbor. He was also from Germany and was traveling with his bike and tent. We were invited by a Swedish neighbor to have a glass of wine with him. We accepted the invitation and went over after cooking our dinner. At first, everything was quite amusing and we had a nice conversation. However, after a short while, we realized that the Swede was an alcoholic. The mood quickly changed and we were relieved when we left. Marie and I briefly talked to the German and then went to sleep.
