Since we were in Santa Marta the day before, we had already explored everything there is to see. The goal this morning was the Botanical Garden. It was a bit difficult to reach the destination. We got in a taxi, told the driver where we wanted to go and even showed it on maps. The taxi driver only spoke Spanish and the destination seemed a bit "spanish" to him 😅. He started driving, kept messing with his phone, and even made a phone call. At some point, he had Farina's and my phone in his hands. Eventually, we left the paved main road and after a short while, we stood in front of a red iron gate. He looked at us as if to say: Do you really want to get out here? No, not really. Google apparently had the wrong entrance on the map. After driving in a big loop, we finally arrived at the actual entrance. Hallelujah, it's a pity when you don't speak the language.

The estate where Simon Bolivar lived and died was located on the grounds. He liberated South America from the Spanish colonialists. He is highly revered throughout Colombia.

The botanical garden left something to be desired. I was fascinated by the huge trees on which iguanas were climbing and occasionally falling into a pond.

After the visit, we went to a nice cafe and enjoyed a delicious meal.

Once again to the sea, enjoying the last evening in Santa Marta on rocks, with warm, beautiful red light in the sky.
