Today I visited the district of Carapongo. This place was severely affected by El Niño at the beginning of the year, causing many houses and some roads to be destroyed.
The only access to this place is through a rough dirt road, which made the way to a small cactus farm very difficult for us.
Finally arrived, I saw more different cacti and succulents than ever before.
There are all kinds of colors and shapes.
Today, many cactus fans came to the small plantation to buy new plants, sell their self-cultivated cacti, and learn how to best care for the plants.
The advantage of succulents is that they can be easily propagated from their own leaves and grow very quickly.
Additionally, they require very little water. This is especially important in dry areas like Lima, where water is scarce and maintaining green areas and parks usually consumes enormous amounts of water.
By planting cacti and succulents, you can bring a little bit of nature into the dry city without wasting too much water.
And with their different colors and beautiful flowers, cacti and succulents are also great to look at!
