Visiting relatives in Italy

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 16.09.2019

We stayed with Sarah's relatives in Cursi, southern Italy, for 10 days. It was a beautiful and eventful time. Every day we went on excursions, visited the sea, explored surrounding towns, visited relatives, went to the market, and more. And there was always something going on in Sarah's aunt's house: neighbors and friends dropping by spontaneously, Sarah's little cousins who lived next door and played UNO with us, and many animals running around the house - chickens, dogs, cats. Filou made some new animal friends ;)

And of course, we had delicious authentic southern Italian food! Sarah's aunt's mother is 91 years old and still makes homemade pasta, which we had the pleasure of trying several times. It surpassed all previous pasta dishes.

Sarah hadn't seen her southern Italian relatives in 8 years. It was so nice for both of us that I was warmly welcomed as well. We already miss them and hope that we won't have to wait another 8 years to see them again.

It's almost strange to be back in the van after 10 days in a house. We left this morning heading north, our next major destination is Pompeii, which we will probably reach tomorrow. Sarah really wants to see the ruins of the city, which were buried by the lava flows of the erupting Vesuvius volcano in 79 AD.

Right now we're at a secluded, beautiful, super long beach near the small town of Metapont and we will spend the night here in the parking lot. I would love to go swimming in the sea, but unfortunately, it's not a good idea in combination with the strong wind and my cold.

This blog post is a bit shorter than usual because I get to write two articles for the TCS Camping Insider, which of course takes some time.

We'll be back next time with a longer blog post. Until then!
