#Tuskana / Lake Bolsena

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 02.09.2023

Today we say goodbye to Pitigliano and head to Montepulciano. However, with a short detour to a special place, Lake Bolsena, and visit the small village of Capodimente.

Lake Bolsena
The Lago di Bolsena (German: Lake Bolsena) is an inland lake at the transition from Lazio to Tuscany . The lake is characterized by its beautiful, very original surroundings. The area around Lake Bolsena is a natural and pristine holiday region that is consciously preserved by the responsible authorities for gentle tourism.
Although Lago di Bolsena is almost circular and of volcanic origin, it is not a crater lake. Rather, it was created several hundred thousand years ago by the collapse of several small craters in what was then a volcanically active region. Lake Bolsena has an area of around 114 square kilometers and a circumference of around 43 km. Nestled in a hilly landscape on the banks of Lake Bolsena are the still very original and idyllic towns of Bolsena, Capodimonte, Gradoli, Grotte di Castro, Mondefiascone, Marta and San Lorenzo Nuovo. Due to the strict ban on building on the lake shores, the lake is freely accessible everywhere and is fully available to bathers and water sports enthusiasts.

I haven't seen water this clear for a long time and the black volcanic sand is really something special. This place radiates peace and relaxation in every corner. We enjoy this on a leisurely tour through the small town and the cute little harbor.

Capodiment

Before we set off towards Montepulciano, we spend a moment on the promenade and enjoy a real classic of Italian cuisine with our cappuccino: toast with cheese and ham 😁
