Vf. Moldoveanu

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 17.10.2017

After using Sunday for a relaxing break, we start the week on Monday (02.10.2017) with corresponding motivation. The night was very cold again, so I organize breakfast for us in the slightly warmer cabana. Meanwhile, the tent has time to thaw in the morning sun. The weather seems to be in our favor again. We are ready to leave around eleven and start the ascent of about 170m to Şaua Podragu. Once there, we continue east along the Făgăraş main ridge. Today's stage includes the ascent of Varful Moldoveanu. This is the highest mountain in Romania, at 2544m. However, we still have to bypass a few peaks. After about 2 hours, the first clear view of the mountain massif with the two peaks Viştea Mare and Moldoveanu opens up. Then we descend a bit more before facing an ascent of about 222m from Şaua Orzăneaua. I take a short break at the saddle and eat some of the chocolate I bought at the Transfăgărăşan. Then we start the ascent to Vf. Viştea Mare. After taking a short breath at the summit cross, we continue along the narrow rocky ridge to Vf. Moldoveanu, which we reach at half past two in the afternoon. I take a good hour to enjoy the sun, the view, and a celebratory beer on the summit before descending back along the mountain ridge and then descending to Şaua Viştea. It's still a bit too early to end the stage, so we leave the nearby weather shelter hut untouched and fight our way to Fereastra Mică a Sâmbetei (2196m) for the next 3 hours. Although the condition of the shelter hut there is not ideal, we still make ourselves comfortable for the night. So the next sunny day in Făgăraş comes to an end.
