We've been zigzagging through the High Atlas for six days. We visited the Oukaimeden ski resort, strolled through the busiest souk in the remote Tabant, and slept under the highest mountains in Morocco (Ibel Toubkal 4167m). We drove over pistes that weren't even on the map and hiked to the rock face of Cascades des Roches. Every place we visited would be worth a trip of its own. Even at the end of our journey, we are still amazed at how simple and often very remote the people here live.
Every night we have camped in the most beautiful spots and always felt comfortable. Our 'fear' that something could happen to us in Morocco has disappeared, as the Moroccans have made a very good impression on us. Milla and Armon love these wild camping spots, where there are only big stones to climb, streams to flow under bridges, paths to jump down, or small stones to collect.
We have already spent more than 100 hours driving in the VW bus, and it is not just a car, but also a dining room, bedroom, craft room, playroom, disco, and so on... The longer our journey lasts, the more we enjoy our van life, as a family we are welded together and our spirit of discovery would like to explore many more corners of Morocco.
But in a week our ferry will depart and we have been telling each other a lot more about home again, and we are very excited about what awaits us there. We still have many kilometers to drive before that happens, and we will once again absorb a lot of Morocco...
