Getting to the Zugspitze is quite expensive and costs a proud 59.50 euros for a round trip. Nevertheless, I now recommend the even more expensive 2-summit pass. For this, you have to fork over a whole 71 euros (plus two euros deposit)! However, it is valid for two days, which do not have to be taken consecutively.
On one day, it takes you to the Zugspitze, no matter which cable car you take, and on the other day, you can, for example, take the Alpspitzbahn to the Osterfelderkopf. This one is also 2050 m high. And to make the mountain even more attractive, the AlpspiX was built here a few years ago. It is an observation platform with partially transparent floor over 1000 m deep.
Interestingly, as someone who is actually afraid of heights, it didn't bother me at all. That was probably due to a certain conditioning, for example through yesterday's Zugspitze summit climb. Speaking of yesterday and summit: I already mentioned the resulting muscle soreness. By climbing, we activated muscles that apparently hung around unused for decades on our legs. Especially the front thighs are affected by this.
Therefore, a fairly easy hike was just the right thing today. From the aforementioned Osterfelderkopf, the so-called pleasure-experience path leads directly to the Kreuzeck via the Hochalm. From there, the Kreuzeckbahn takes you back to the starting point in the valley. This pleasure-experience path actually only goes downhill. Only the many gravel makes it a bit difficult to walk because you can easily slide. If you want it to be even easier, you can even take another cable car between the Osterfelderkopf and the Hochalm. The remaining part of the path only has to overcome 50 meters in altitude. On this stretch, we even met two older ladies with walkers.
Otherwise, the pleasure-experience path is also recommended because it is very varied. Sometimes you walk through cow pastures, sometimes through a lunar landscape. And there are great views again and again. And on beautiful days, various paragliders also fly through the air. We haven't tried it ourselves yet today, but who knows, maybe next time...
