Today I am running late. That was because of the weather. It has been raining all night and it continued this morning. A test for the repaired roof. Passed! We left Greymouth around 9:30 am. Rain - sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker. But always present. So we didn't stop, we simply drove past our destinations. Too wet! Hokitika, Franz Josef Glacier (there were too many people there anyway), Fox Glacier. Along the way, we did make a few stops for photography. Unfortunately, there are more superlatives. I refer to the photos. Actually, we wanted to stay at Haast Beach, but besides a few motels, there was only a gas station and a cafe. We refueled there, but then continued driving through a valley in the Southern Alps, mostly along a river that had very little water. And that in spring. It seems that there have been very few rainfall here. This can also be seen in the photos. We had to drive to Lake Hawea to finally find accommodation. There is a photo that shows the view from our window. Today we drove a little over 400 km. Maybe we can still make it to Milford Sound. It will be decided tomorrow.
