Day 13 and 14 Mahia Peninsula

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 19.11.2018

Our journey to the Hawkes Bay area was supposed to start in Wairoa, but since Wairoa turned out to be a small, not so nice town and the campground was a parking lot in the middle of the 'city', we decided to drive a little further to the Mahia Peninsula. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the roaring Pacific Ocean and a small campground in paradise.

The next day, we (Basti) explored a freely accessible cave. The path to the cave led us through sheep and cow pastures (yey). The young bulls were also quite interested in us and I quickly doubted whether wearing red pants and a jacket was the right decision (: .

After a short stop at a black beach with an enormous amount of driftwood, we continued on a hike through the nature reserve of the peninsula. We hiked through a jungle full of birds and insects in the middle of the peninsula and observed the busy activity of hermit crabs on the beach as the day drew to a close.
