Mont St. Odile, Molsheim

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 31.07.2019

Today we had only a small program for the day. The 270 km from yesterday were still in our bones 😱 well, we are also approaching 60... So we explored the surrounding area. And there was Mont St. Odile, which we had already come within 2 km of, but still hadn't reached the top. So we hopped on the scooter and off we went. A journey of 40 minutes, we could even do that with half a cheek...we went up to 770 meters on familiar paths. Once at the top, we were rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view:

But now we wanted to know who this holy Odilie was...

In 700 she founded a monastery in Hohenburg, which she inherited from her father. The monastery existed until the Middle Ages. Today there is a hotel in the buildings, and seminars are held there.

The beautiful gardens and the noteworthy chapels are worth a visit.

The view alone is worth the visit, and there is no admission fee!

We returned to Molsheim's city center for a coffee at pleasant temperatures of 25 degrees.

By the way, Molsheim has come to great wealth thanks to the car manufacturer Bugatti. The Italian built a large factory in Molsheim and lived in Alsace for many years.

Oh, by the way: I have never seen as many storks in my entire life as I have here in Alsace!

They strut around in dozens on the meadows, near the streets (and probably enjoy the delicious frogs!). The formations in the air are also impressive... they have an impressive wingspan. And apparently, they particularly like to use Alsace as a landing place, otherwise it wouldn't be called 'Cigolland' (cigol= stork).

Afterwards, we went home and enjoyed doing nothing. And we ate our little fish dishes 🐟🦈🐳

See you tomorrow, my loves.
