Sunday and Monday

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 30.04.2018

On Sunday, we got up early to go to Kakum National Park. We took a tour through the rainforest to see the different animals and plants. The tour guide told us about the medicine that can be obtained from various trees and plants, which was very exciting. Unfortunately, we didn't see any large animals, but Simon and I are going to the large Mole National Park for this attraction.

On the way back to Accra, we had to find a trotro that could take us. 3 full cars passed us by and we were slowly losing hope. The next one, however, slowed down and wanted to take us. A trotro is a minibus that can accommodate 15 people (including the driver). In the end, they squeezed us in and we were sitting with 22 people almost on top of each other in the car😅 It was crowded, but everyone took it with humor! Fortunately, this ride only took 30 minutes. After changing, we all had our own seat again.

While waiting for the trotro, I met a 13-year-old girl. She carried drinks on her head and sold us water. I found out that she goes to school and enjoys it, but still has to sell things until 10 p.m. every day to support her family. I found this very sad because every child should be a child and at this age should have anything other than work and money on their minds...

On Monday (January 30th), I slept in to catch up on sleep and then went to the market with Julia and Josi. We strolled around and had a good time 🤗

In the evening, however, I received an SMS from Simon saying that his flight to Ghana was canceled due to a strike by the airline. But since it was already 8 p.m., Simon couldn't find a hotline that was still available at first and I wasn't feeling well at that moment. I haven't seen Simon for 4 weeks now and was looking forward to his arrival! Luckily, he managed to reach the airline after all (by calling Holland!) and successfully rebooked his flight. Now he will arrive tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.! 🤗 If everything goes well...

Tomorrow, I will do some laundry and pack my clothes for the 3-week trip through Ghana. I'm really looking forward to more adventures now that the hospital chapter is over. Maybe it will also help me reduce my homesickness a bit.. In the afternoon, Sefa and I will go to the airport to pick up Simon😍

Good night!😴

P.S.: I'm sorry for the late entry! We had another power outage today and without Wi-Fi, it's usually a bit difficult..
