Today we had a nice evening at our professor's place. At first, we thought that only we were invited there to welcome us again.
However, many other people joined us: our professor's family, many colleagues, and also students from UFBA's sports institute. Of course, we were very happy about that and were able to make many contacts and have interesting conversations.
Furthermore, on this evening, we even had our first Brazilian Churrasco! From the pictures, you can already see how much Brazilians enjoy grilling and eating meat! But before we started eating, there was a lot of singing and drinking. So the mood was already very lively. It didn't take long for our professor's husband and a fellow student from UFBA to take out their guitars and start singing Brazilian songs. And in between, there were always small snacks like pieces of steak, small sausages, or garlic bread (the best ever here!).
Afterwards, we went to the buffet consisting of salads, rice, and an oil-chilli sauce. Two Brazilian classics should not be missing: Manioc (the Brazilian potato) and Farofa (roasted manioc flour, which is usually already seasoned). The meat was always freshly grilled.
After the meal, we sang again, and we couldn't resist joining in with a German song: D
Then the evening was ended with some speeches and quotes from Karl Marx. But not for us! We went with some students to Rio Vermelho, where the young people meet in the evening to drink and party. There we spent the rest of the evening with our fellow students.
