Finally arrived in Seattle and immediately annoyed by the terrible city traffic... We seem to be no longer used to big cities ;-) Naively, we just drove around hoping to find a central and safe place to stay for the night, but it was hopeless. So we booked the seemingly last available motel room and went on exploring Seattle. An inspiring city that has brought forth many useful and great things, such as Boeing, Starbucks, and Nirvana. It is also the adopted home of many current and former celebrities like Bill Gates, Bruce Lee, and Kurt Cobain. A beautiful city with a pleasant climate, lots of greenery, lots of water, and many mountains. There is an alternative vibe that prevails here, even though the grunge era is probably over. There are many nice bars, the famous Farmers Market bustling with life, not to mention the Bubble-Gum Wall (apparently a tourist attraction ;-) see photos... The pier with lots of sailors and of course the Space Needle, the city's landmark. A truly amazing skyline!
