Guatemala is delighted by its colorful and exciting weekly markets. They are everywhere, in every city, in every village. The market in Chichicastenango, or simply ChiChi, is particularly colorful and exciting. On Thursdays and Sundays, Maya families and farmers from the surrounding villages come together here to sell their goods. The small town transforms into a huge market. It is said to be the largest in Central America. A colorful bustle and a crazy hustle! There is simply everything here, especially traditional textiles, ceramics, flowers, food such as fruits and vegetables, something for the meat lovers... which we lost our appetites for here, eggs upon eggs, chickens strapped to the back, pigs, pets, furniture, and more... You are overwhelmed by all the impressions, colors, and the many people. But it was worth the trip!
