Totally unexpectedly, I found myself in this small town called Murcia. It is located a bit further inland from Spain, north of Cartagena. I got out of my very nice rideshare car in the middle of the roundabout and then walked for half an hour with my somewhat heavy backpack to the hostel under the blazing sun and heat. However, the route was actually quite pleasant to walk. There isn’t much happening around the hostel, but it felt really cozy and family-like from the start. In my opinion, these little nice hostels in the middle of nowhere usually have the best vibe. I first cooked something to eat and chatted for hours. Later in the afternoon, when it was not so hot anymore, I strolled into the city. I really felt that Sunday vibe, everything was closed and the city was more or less deserted. Since the town is really very small, I walked around it quickly. I got an ice cream and then just sat on a bench in the city, enjoying the Sunday. Afterwards, I quickly went shopping for my dinner and strolled back to the hostel during sunset. I enjoyed my dinner with a pretty nice view on the rooftop terrace. The next morning, I spent some time in the hostel because it was too hot, and I wanted to relax a bit. I took care of some planning and other things that needed to be done in between. In the afternoon, I walked along the river back into town, passing many lemon trees. This time, there was more going on in the city, and there was a real buzz. Today, I also visited the famous Real Casino and the cathedral from the inside. The cathedral really fascinated me. Not because it was beautiful, but it was impressive that such a huge cathedral stands in such a small town. To be honest, there isn’t much more to see. I then sat in a café right next to the cathedral and enjoyed the afternoon there. I absolutely wanted to watch the sunset from our rooftop terrace, so I walked back accordingly. Sunsets are and will always be my highlight of the day, no matter where or how! I spent the evening chatting and eating on the rooftop terrace. The next morning, I wanted to take advantage of my time again and spent it on the rooftop terrace before continuing on. We all cooked lunch together, spending the rest of the morning together before I headed south. Unexpectedly, I found this small town very beautiful and enjoyed my time here greatly. Then, it was a long 10-hour bus ride all the way south. 🫶🏼
