Isar cycle path north 3: From Dingolfing to Deggendorf

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 21.10.2023

Kilometers driven: approx. 75

Weather: warm, sunny, very pleasant for cycling

My mom and I started the day with breakfast in front of a bakery in Dingolfing. Apart from us, there were only a few other bakery customers and the street sweeper in the city center, otherwise it was dead here.

It doesn't matter, we cycled straight away along the Isar to Landau. There we met a friend for breakfast or actually just a coffee. I know her from playing music and since she moved to Landau I had only seen her very rarely. And so it happened that we gave each other away and didn't move on until around midday.

We more or less always drove along the Isar until Plattling. However, there were always at least two parallel cycle paths, once on the dam and then in front of or behind it. The causeway was mostly boring, which is why we liked to go the other way. But more than once it just stopped and we had to push a bit through meadows and bushes. Finally we reached Plattling, where we took a kebab break. And then it became clear how poorly prepared we were this year: We wanted to go through the Isar floodplains to Deggendorf. But firstly, the signposts were rare and secondly, the signs “Deggendorf” and “Isarauen” pointed in different directions. We were very confused by this and drove - along major federal highways, we simply didn't see the signs - in the direction of the floodplains. We still didn't see any signs there, so we went by feel. We went through the forest and it was actually a lot of fun - but we didn't even know where we actually were. Google maps only helped us to a limited extent, but after about an hour we reached an official cycle path again, beautifully located in the meadows.

Now we wanted to continue to Deggendorf, but as I said, we didn't know our way around. An older e-biker helped us: In order to get to Deggendorf from here we either had to go back to Plattling or to the Danube and cross it with the ferry. We chose the latter and since the man had time anyway, he accompanied us to the ferry, where we were the only guests. The crossing took about 2 minutes. Then we continued our Isar cycle path trip on the Danube.

We took a break at a nice spot and waded into a lake. That was very pleasant, only the very loud noise of the nearby motorway was a little annoying. After a short time we reached our goal. We ate ice cream and when my dad finally came to pick us up, we ate in a pub. Then we drove the hour and a half home.
