Travelling in Nagasaki

So the next day we went to the place where Nagasaki became famous: the Peace Park, the Atomic Bomb Museum and the Hypocenter. Just like in Hiroshima, you walk around here with a very strange feeling. And in the museum they even showed even more shocking pictures. Three days after Hiroshima, the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. The city was not the primary target, but Kokura in northern Kyushu. However, as it was cloudy, the Americans flew to Nagasaki. By the way: the atomic bombing of Japan was already decided at the end of 1944 by the Americans and the British, even though the bomb was not yet ready (and they did not yet know how the war would develop). Nagasaki had 240,000 inhabitants in 1945. 75,000 died, 75,000 were injured. 120,000 were homeless.

After that, we went to Chinatown to eat specialties. Nagasaki has its own Chinese noodle soup (Champon) and chop suey on fried noodles (Sara-udon).

As it got dark, I took the cable car to Mount Inasa. From there you have a beautiful view of Nagasaki. In 2012 it was voted one of the three most beautiful night city views in the world (along with Hong Kong and Monaco).
