Sofia - Thank you (danke)

And it goes on!
The 12-hour train ride from Bucharest to Sofia was a challenge. With considerable delay due to long passport controls (and snail's pace), the first train arrived in Ruse (border to Bulgaria) with almost an hour's delay. We (especially Maria) were relieved when we found out that the second train (from Ruse to Sofia) was waiting for us - first panic attack averted.
Arriving in Sofia at night, we barely managed to find our accommodation - second panic attack averted. A man in military uniform who was playing 99 red balloons loudly in the car helped us - more on that from us personally.
Showering in Bulgaria is an experience because the bathroom, toilet, and shower are all in one. So everything gets wet. But everything stays clean too - see photo :D
The next morning, we treated ourselves to a delicious breakfast - a perfect start to the day!
In the afternoon, we walked around Sofia and managed to follow a perfect route without any orientation. The pancakes for €1.50 each were a real taste and price hit. The weather was beautiful and now we're taking the overnight train to Istanbul.
We hope that this overnight train will be a better experience ...
