I'm writing this entry because I want to mention all of our stops on the East Coast of Australia in this travel diary. Coffs Harbour was actually our most unnecessary stop and we saw absolutely nothing - mainly because it rained all day long, even stronger than the previous night when we arrived at the campsite in Byron Bay. So after one night here, we had to leave in the evening as it kept raining.
That means, on the 16th of December, we checked out of our double bed room (the only crazy thing that happened here - we paid for a 6-bed room, walked in and suddenly got a room with 2 beds just for us) and then we spent the whole day in the small common room on the most uncomfortable and unstylish sofas ever, while a dead cockroach stared at us from the corner. The hostel was okay, except that there was an Asian invasion going on here. 90% of the people here were Asians and there were 5kg rice sacks everywhere, while we had been carrying a 500g pack with us for at least 6 weeks and it's still not empty. Asian stereotype number 1: confirmed. At least the Asians who lived here really ate rice all day long.
It didn't stop pouring rain even once and we really wondered if we were suddenly back in Europe. Well, I used the slowly passing time to transfer some pictures from my camera to my phone and continue watching Teen Wolf.
In the meantime, Linni dared to go outside - but I had to stay upstairs because we didn't have a key anymore, so I had to use one of my shoes to block the fire door so she could come back in through the main door. She was completely soaked when she came back and I wasn't really keen on venturing out into the storm. The beach was also a 40-minute walk from here - so we really ended up in the middle of nowhere.
In the afternoon, we made ourselves a salad and noodles, and for dessert, we had our leftover mango that we got as a gift from the hippie drug lady in Nimbin - and no, we didn't get high from it or anything. I was really proud of my mango cutting skills because I had only seen this method, which looks like a mango armor, in pictures before. And the fruit tasted really delicious. I don't know why I never really liked mangoes in Germany, except for the ice cream... maybe they're just better here.
In the evening - after having the common room all to ourselves all day, which surprised us because: where is everyone? - we met 2 nice girls and watched what was on Australian TV. Sherlock's familiar face really greeted us and at least our last hours here became a bit more social.
Shortly after that, we backpacked up again and headed to the bus station in the drizzle. We would be picked up at 22:50 and transported to Port Macquarie. It's supposed to be another small town, but at least we would see Michi and Jule, our two friends from Hervey Bay, again because they work there in our hostel.
Screwed up our sleep schedule again!
Song of the day: 1, 2, 3! by SEUNGRI, because some Asians at our hostel were playing it loudly and I thought it was pretty cool, even though I'm not really into K-Pop.
