Today was our Hop on - Hop off day, we took the blue tour to Kirstenbosch, a botanical garden (which is part of the World Cultural Heritage) in the shadow of Table Mountain, after a good 40 minutes drive by bus we arrived there. At the ticket office we quickly bought our tickets and off we went into this large garden area.
We definitely wanted to see the Tree Canopy Walkway and the Fynbos Garden, so we went uphill to the Tree Canopy Walkway, not very big, but it was impressive to be at the same height as the treetops and to be able to observe the birds in the treetops up close.
Afterwards we continued uphill to the Fynbos Garden, all plants that correspond to the Cape Flora. Above that, there is a section with Proteas, the national plant of South Africa.
Unfortunately, after that a light drizzle set in, which abruptly ended our visit. We warmed up with a coffee in the entrance building and took the next bus that took us to Hout Bay via Camps Bay, where we got off again and treated ourselves to a salad (the kitchen couldn't offer more due to the load shedding).
We continued by bus to Sea Point, where we actually wanted to have a coffee on the promenade, but since there were no restaurants, we walked to Studer's hotel and had our coffee in the restaurant there.
Then we took the bus again, which took us back to the V&A Waterfront, where we then walked back to our accommodation.
Tonight we will enjoy a good piece of meat at the Hussar Grill in Mouille Point.
