40th Olympia (continued)

Day 40: After not being able to visit the archaeological museum yesterday, we went there first thing this morning. The exhibition captivates us until noon. Especially the weapon collections with powerful shields and terribly uncomfortable helmets, as well as the arrangements of the gable figures from the Temple of Zeus, have caught our attention. But our attention is also drawn to the tiny, artistically decorated sacrificial figures.

On the way back to the parking lot, we also visit the small botanical garden.

As a conclusion, we take a stroll along the "tourist mile" in the village of Olympia. There is nothing original here. Every inch is used for tourist purposes. Less would be more.

Before we continue towards Patras, we relax in a small park and enjoy the warm afternoon sun. It's hard to believe: you are right between a packed visitor parking lot and a main road, and yet there is a lulling quietness here.

In the evening, we are at the beach near Diakofto (on the Gulf of Corinth), letting ourselves be lulled by the sounds of the lively surf.
