After the first night in Port Macquarie, we decided to extend our stay for one more night. The campsite was fully booked as it was Australia Day on January 26th. This is a national holiday where Australians (originally British) celebrate the 'unification' with the Aboriginal people, marking the time when Australians gained ownership of their land. There are festivities happening everywhere, such as BBQs, markets, etc. We visited the market, where Padi bought an Australian T-shirt and I got my leather hat. The Aboriginal cultural group performed a traditional dance, and there was also music and contributions from youth groups. We spent the rest of the day swimming at the city beach. In the evening, we had a typical Australian celebration. We sat in our camp and enjoyed some drinks. :))
The next morning, we went swimming at Lighthouse Beach, which was great for swimming. But we wanted to go back to Boomerang Beach, so we decided to drive back and have a beach vacation.
