After treating ourselves the day before and me exploring the city of Cork on my own in the afternoon, we continued westward today.
We took a beautiful hike to Three Castle Head on the Mizen Head Peninsula in bright sunshine. However, we were a bit surprised not to find the signposted café anywhere, until we found out upon inquiry that it has been closed for 2 years.
Therefore, in the afternoon, we drove to the next peninsula, Sheeps Head, to have a coffee with a view of the bay. We skipped the nearly one-hour hike to the local lighthouse.
In the evening, we continued to the next accommodation in Glengarriff. After our hostess was initially absent (according to a note on the door, she was in the hospital), Beatrice showed us what Irish hospitality means after dinner. Clarissa and I had no choice but to decline the tea and cookies, and soon we were sitting in a wonderfully picturesque living room with an Irish lady, feeling a bit like in a movie. By the way, Beatrice told us about her 105-year-old aunt who has given birth to 17!!!!!!! children. We asked three times to make sure...
